Southpaws Puts on the Pink Ribbon
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and many Southpaws dogs are sporting pink ribbons to support the cause.
"If one ribbon reminds one person to do a self check and take care of themselves, all of the effort will be worth it," says Tim as he ties a ribbon on a squirmy wormy puppy.
If you haven't been to Southpaws in a while, you are still welcome to stop by and get a ribbon tied to your sweetie's collar.
Both people and dogs are susceptible to breast cancer, so be sure checks are done on the four legged family members, too.
Southpaws Playschool Gives Back
On any given visit to Southpaws, you will see a bin or container for some type of collection. We get notices of need from lots of places, and we try to support as many rescue groups as we can.
Some of our favorite causes are:
Austin and Travis County Pet Food Bank (we have a collection bin in the lobby and accept all brands of food and gently used pet supplies)
German Shepherd Rescue Central Texas
Tuxedo Junction Rescue (black and white cats)We just recently collected books and other media for their October media sale
Texas Hearing and Service Dogs (currently collecting ink cartridges)
Town Lake Animal Shelter (currently collecting newspaper) We will be collecting blankets and full size towels to help during the cold weather.
If you have a "pet charity" that you would like us to consider adding to our list, let us know.
